The Originals Special Premiere Event – Always and Forever
This special airing of The Originals is the same episode with additional footage, emphasizing the original vampire, Elijah’s, point of view.
The episode opens on the Mississippi River, 300 years ago. On the boat are original vampires Elijah, Rebekah, and Klaus. They also brought along their brothers, who were staked and transported in coffins. The original vampires discover they have landed in New Orleans, and decide this is where they will get off the boat.
Now in present time, Elijah visits a bar on Bourbon street and visits with the bartender, Camille. He explains that he is looking for Jane Ann Devereaux, and Camille sends him to someone who can help. When he finds this person on the Quarter, he explains that his brother Klaus returned to New Orleans because he was told that a witch, Jane Ann Devereaux, was conspiring against him. Elijah learns that Jane Ann is dead.
Elijah is led to the location in the street where Jane Ann’s body lay, and her sister Sophie is there mourning her body. Marcel and his crew show up. Elijah hides and listens to what transpires. Marcel declares that Jane Ann was killed because she broke his rule – witches cannot practice magic in the Quarter. He asks Sophie why Klaus showed up looking for Jane Ann. Sophie told him witches don’t get involved in vampire business. Marcel takes Jane Ann’s body, telling Sophie that he’s going to hold onto it in case she remembers why Klaus is in town.
Elijah calls Rebekah and asks her to join him in New Orleans to help Klaus. She told him NO! I think Klaus has staked her one too many times! Elijah reminds her that they swore to each other, always and forever
Sophie goes into the alley to pray to Jane Ann, asking her what she was getting herself into. Marcel’s vampires show up wanting to know why Jane Ann would need an original vampire. Elijah shows up and kills them both. He wants to know what business she had with his brother, Klaus. Elijah follows Sophie to the cemetery to find out why Jane Ann needed Klaus. She told him that they had a “vampire problem.” She explained Jane Ann met a werewolf girl passing through the Quarter, who is pregnant with Klaus’ baby. Elijah meets Hayley, and shares Klaus’ story with her. Sophie needs Klaus’ help to run Marcel out of town. She agreed to keep quiet about the hybrid baby if Klaus helped her do that.
Elijah visits Klaus and takes him to Sophie and Hayley, and asks him to help. Sophie threatened to kill Hayley and the baby if he didn’t help. Klaus refused. He does not care.
Elijah convinces Sophie to give him a chance to talk to Klaus. He finds him and again requests his help, telling him that family is power, love, loyalty are power. Klaus still refuses.
Elijah crashes a witch meeting, and asks Sophie what keeps Klaus from just murdering her. She explains that a spell that Jane Ann cast linked her to Hayley. Sophie stabs her own hand, and Hayley jumps – her hand is bleeding in the same spot. Sophie gives Elijah a midnight deadline to get Klaus’ cooperation, or she will hurt Hayley.
As Elijah looks on from afar, Klaus confronts Marcel in the Quarter about what is going on with the witches. Marcel refused to give information. New Orleans is his town, his rules. Klaus inquired what happened when a rule is broken; Marcel answers that they die – mercy is for the weak. Marcel declared he was king, and that Klaus should show him some respect. In response, Klaus bites a member of Marcel’s crew, and tells Marcel that he broke his rule. Klaus cannot be killed though, he is immortal. He challenges Marcel by asking “who has the power now?”
Elijah called Rebekah again, urging her to join him in New Orleans.
Elijah visits Marcel, inquiring how he controls the witches. Marcel refuses the information. Elijah offers Marcel Klaus’ blood to cure his bitten friend, in return, he requested Jane Ann’s body.
Elijah shows up to the midnight meeting with the witches with Jane Ann’s body. He wasn’t able to get Klaus to agree to help, but this was his proof of his intent to continue his efforts. He asks for more time, and Sophie grants it.
Klaus is drinking at the farmer’s market and is confronted again by Elijah. They physically fight. Elijah reminds Klaus of their siblings promise to each other – always and forever, family above all. Later on a bench in the street, Klaus confesses that Marcel has everything he wants for himself – power, loyalty, family. He wants to be king. He agrees to the deal with Elijah and the witches.
Marcel visits Davina, who can sense when witches use magic. She inquires about the old ones. Marcel assures her that with her power, the originals don’t stand a chance.
Elijah and Klaus are in their New Orleans home discussing their plans. Klaus explains that he has one weakness that Marcel could exploit. As he stakes Elijah, he confesses that there is no power in love, mercy makes one weak, and family makes one weak. He proclaims that if he is to win the war, he must do it alone.
